TOGO : HOW THEY QUALIFIED

After a slow start, Togo captured African Group 1 with a 7-1-2 record and 23 points over 2002 World Cup sensations and quarterfinalists Senegal, Zambia, Congo, Mali and Liberia. The Togolese clinched a berth by edging the Congo, 3-2, in Brazzaville, the Congo on October 8, 2005. Emmanuel Adebayor, Ma Diafar and Kader connected for the winners. Thousands of people in the capital of Lome poured into the streets to celebrate, during which there was a power blackout that lasted for hours.
