Kixx cease operations
The beginning of a new era in Philadelphia in 2010 saw the end of another one as the Philadelphia Kixx ceased operations after playing indoor soccer in various leagues since 1996-97, that is is #7 on the Philly Soccer News list of the top ten local stories of 2010.

Owner says Kixx will stick around
The Philadelphia KiXX will not playing in the Major Indoor Soccer League this season, but the team is not folding, according to its principal owner Jeffrey Rotwitt.

Philly not in MISL schedule
The Philadelphia Kixx will not be playing in the Major Indoor Soccer League this season, the league said on its Facebook page on Saturday. Rockford and Monterrey also will not play the upcoming season, as the league has confirmed it will have only five teams.

Roberts leaves KiXX
Darcee Roberts has stepped down from her position of Vice President of the Philadelphia Kixx effective immediately. Roberts, who recently gave birth to a boy, will be moving to Florida with her husband Clay, who has accepted a coaching position with a youth soccer club in the Tampa area.

SAN DIEGO – Former Philadelphia KiXX forward Daniel Antoniuk has signed with San Diego Boca FC after helping the San Diego Sockers of the Premier Arena Soccer League to a championship.

KiXX player coach D’Ambra calls it a career
Philadelphia KiXX head coach Don D’Ambra has resigned effective immediately while also retiring as a player. He will remain with the team through the 2010 KiXX Summer Kamp campaign.

A LITTLE RECOGNITION
KiXX’ Pappas an unsung hero of Philadelphia sports
Few players have spent as much time in a Philadelphia uniform, with as little notoriety, as Peter Pappas. In any other sport, an eight time all-league selection and two-time league champion would have been the toast of the town.

But Pappas, a Toronto native who spent his career with the Philadelphia KiXX, was shown little of the recognition this city usually accords to sports heroes.

Pappas 22 to hang in rafters
Long time Philadelphia KiXX goalkeeper Peter Pappas became the first player in team history to have his jersey number retired, when his #22 was immortalized on Sunday. The KiXX retired number will join Temple’s Atlantic 10 Championship and NCAA Tournament banners hanging in the rafters at Liacouras Center next season.

The third quarter had been the KiXX’s Achilles heel all season long. At least in the final game of the season, they did not let it completely get the best of them, as they held on to defeat the Baltimore Blast 19-12 Sunday at the Liacouras Center.
