The Philadelphia Independence has traded Megan Rapinoe to magicJack in exchange for an undisclosed fee. Rapinoe is currently with the U.S. Women’s National Team preparing for the World Cup in Germany.

Rapinoe signed with the Independence in the off-season after spending two seasons with the Chicago Red Stars. She appeared in four games this season for Philadelphia, starting in two and scoring one goal in 220 minutes of action. Like other National Team players, she missed much of training camp and Independence coach Paul Riley had a difficult time finding a spot for her in the lineup when she was available.

MagicJack, the Independence’s opponent this Saturday at Widener University (5:00 pm) already six other members of the U.S. Women’s National Team on its roster.
