SEATTLE – Sinead Farrelly has announced her retirement from professional soccer. The Havertown, Pa. native spent four years in the National Women's Soccer League, but missed the entire 2016 season while on the injured list. She registered three goals and tallied two assists during her four years in the NWSL.

Former Philadelphia Independence goalkeeper Karina LeBlanc, now with the Chicago Red Stars, will retire at the end of the current National Women's Soccer League Season.

Former Philadelphia Independence head coach Paul Riley has another team headed to the post season. The Portland Thorns clinched a spot in the National Women’s Soccer League playoffs on Sunday with a 1-0 win over the Seattle Reign, only the second loss suffered by Seattle all season.

Paul Riley isn't going anywhere.

The Portland Thorns FC coach has been mentioned in some circles as a possible successor for the fired Tom Sermanni as U.S. women's national coach, but he said that he has more than enough on his plate with the defending National Women's Soccer League champions.

Thorns sign former MVP Veronica Boquete

Former Philadelphia Independence midfielder Verónica Boquete will rejoin coach Paul Riley with the Portland Thorns. PORTLAND, Ore. – Paul Riley is bringing his former Most Valuable Player to the Portland Thorns. The National Women’s Soccer League team has signed former Philadelphia Independence midfielder Verónica Boquete.
Boquete is the second former Cheesesteak to join Riley in Portland, following midfielder Sinead Farrely.
