Riley bringing SUPERGROUP together again

Paul Riley is bringing his Women's Professional SUPERGROUP back together for a one week camp outside of Philadelphia. More than 20 players, many of them who performed for Riley with the Philadelphia Independence will attend that camp at United Sports Training Center in Downingtown, Pa.

WPS folds

After back to back trips to the WPS Championship game, the Philadelphia Independence called it quits when the league folded. After three rocky years and a lawsuit, Women's Professional Soccer finally called it quits on May 18, deciding to fold and taking the Philadelphia Independence with it, the number five story on the Philly Soccer News list of the Top Ten local stories of 2012.

NEW WOMEN'S LEAGUE
No plans for Independence

A new women's professional soccer league is being planned for launch in the spring of 2013. According to league organizers, four teams have committed to joing the new league, including three former members of Women's Professional Soccer, the Chicago Red Stars, Boston Breakers and Sky Blue FC, along with a newly formed team in Seattle.

Fury adds another ex-Cheesesteak in Farrelly

The New York Fury signed another former member of the Philadelphia Independence, Sinead Farrelly. Another former Philadelphia Independence player is joining head coach Paul Riley with the New York Fury. The team signed midfielder Sinead Farrelly, making her the seventh ex-Cheesesteak to arrive in New York to play for the WPSL Elite team.
