PROVIDENCE, R.I.—Junior Kelly Eagan was named the Big East Preseason Defensive Player of the Year and Villanova was chosen to finish fifth in the National Division this season in a poll of the league’s head coaches.

VILLANOVA, Pa. - Villanova University has named Tom Carlin men's soccer coach. Carlin replaces Larry Sullivan who resigned following the 2007 season after 17 years. Carlin served as Sullivan's assistant coach this past season.

Loyden cracks NCAA top 10
MORGANTOWN, W.Va.—In Sunday afternoon’s game against West Virginia, Villanova senior goalkeeper Jillian Loyden (Vineland, N.J.) broke into the career top-10 in NCAA Division I history by surpassing 7,500 career minutes. To date, Loyden has played 82 career games and a total of 7,542:04 minutes in the net, a total which places her 10th all-time.

MORGANTOWN, W.Va.—A goal off of a free kick in the 64th minute accounted for the lone score of the game as West Virginia (14-4-1) defeated Villanova (11-4-6) 1-0 on Sunday afternoon at Dick Dlesk Stadium in the quarterfinal round of the Big East Championship.

Seamon hattrick powers Wildcats
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - A second half scoring explosion from sophomore forward Mike Seamon helped lift Villanova (10-6-0 overall, 5-4-0 Big East) to a 3-2 victory over Syracuse (5-6-4 overall, 2-6-0 Big East) in a critical Red Division match played here this evening. The win snaps a four game losing skid for the Wildcats.

Villanova has moved up the start time of its women’s game against Louisville on Friday to 3:30. The game will start a half our earlier than originally scheduled so it can be completed in daylight.
