Princeton forward Jen Hoy has been named the Philly Soccer News Women’s College Player of the Year. She also is among the finalists for the Soccer News Net Women’s College Boot, awarded to the national player of the year.
The nominations included athletes playing at colleges within the site’s coverage area, as well as athletes from the area playing collegiately elsewhere in the country.
Hoy, of Sellersville, Pa. (Germantown Academy/FC Bucks Vipers) is the Tigers’ first Ivy League Player of the Year since Diana Matheson earned the award in 2007. Hoy ranked seventh in the nation in regular season goals (17) and 10th in points (38), leading the League in both categories. She finished the year with the second-highest single-season goals total in Princeton history, 18, trailing only Esmeralda Negron’s 20 in 2004. Hoy, who had three hat tricks during the season, was unanimously voted first-team All-Ivy, the third-straight season in which she has earned All-Ivy accolades and the second consecutive year she was named to the First Team. She also was an NSCAA Second Team All-America selection.
