POINTS COUNT Rivalry aside, Army, Navy both need league win
The Army-Navy rivalry may be one of the biggest in all of sports. Certainly one that permeates many sports at the two military academy, but despite the rivalry the theme for both teams as they head into Sunday's 2 pm match at PPL Park is league points. Both schools play in the Patriot League, and both are hoping to make the league's post-season tournament.
EXPANDING A TRADITION Philly sees extension of Army-Navy rivalry
The first time Army and Navy played each other in a football game in Philadelphia, the service academies had met only four times before. That was in 1899. While the school's soccer teams already have a much longer ongoing rivalry, those involved in bringing Sunday's game to PPL Park (2:00 pm), hope the soccer version will also be the start of a great tradition. FABRIC OF THE CULTURE Army-Navy one of biggest rivalries in all sports
One of the oldest and most famous rivalries in all of sports will see itself in a different setting this weekend, when Army and Navy's futbol teams face each other at PPL Park.
